Vintage Bean House is an independent coffee journal written by Lalo Böke, based in Utah, United States. This page explains what information is collected when you visit the site, why, and what you can do about it. If you have questions, write to hello@vintagebeanhouse.com.
What I collect
When you read the site. Like most websites, the server that hosts Vintage Bean House (Hostinger) keeps standard technical logs: your IP address, browser type, the pages you request and the time of the request. These logs are used to keep the site running and secure.
Analytics. I use Google Analytics to understand which articles are read, how people arrive at the site and how long they stay. Google Analytics uses cookies and collects information such as pages visited, approximate location (city or country), device and browser. I use this information only in aggregate, to decide what to write and improve. You can learn how Google uses this data at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites and block it with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.
When you write to me. If you email me, I receive your email address and whatever you choose to include in your message. I use it only to answer you. I don’t add you to any list without your permission.
When you comment. If you leave a comment, the site stores the name, email and website you enter, the comment itself, and your IP address, to help detect spam. Your email address is never published. WordPress may use your email to show an avatar from the Gravatar service.
Affiliate links and cookies
Some articles contain affiliate links, including links to Amazon. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. When you click one of these links, Amazon or the other retailer may place a cookie in your browser to know that the visit came from Vintage Bean House. I don’t receive your name or any personal information about your purchase, only a report of the total sales made through my links. More details are on the Affiliate Disclosure page.
Cookies
Cookies are small files stored in your browser. Vintage Bean House uses cookies for analytics (Google Analytics), for affiliate tracking when you click an affiliate link, and for basic site functions such as remembering a comment you started. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site will still work.
What I don’t do
- I don’t sell your personal information.
- I don’t share it with anyone except the services listed on this page, which are needed to run the site.
- I don’t knowingly collect information from children under 13.
How long information is kept
Analytics data is kept according to Google Analytics’ retention settings. Emails are kept in my inbox for as long as they are useful to answer or follow up. Comments stay published unless you ask me to remove them.
Your choices
You can ask me what information I have about you, or ask me to correct or delete it, by writing to hello@vintagebeanhouse.com. You can also block cookies in your browser or use the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.
Changes to this policy
If I add new tools, such as a newsletter, I will update this page and change the date at the top.
